I’m sure you’ve all sung Old McDonald a thousand times in your lifetime. Well, when I taught Kindergarten I started singing it a little bit differently. When I teach short vowel sounds, I use this song to help reinforce the short vowel sounds for my auditory learners as well as just to have a fun song to sing! Instead of singing E-I-E-I-O, you sing the short vowel sounds a-e-i-o-u!
So it goes like this:
I created a packet around this idea to use during my first few weeks as I am teaching expectations, how to use centers and as an assessment tool. This will help me see which of my firsties KNOW their short vowel sounds.
The packet is 81 pages and contains everything from:
literacy center activities and word sorts:
handwriting/fine motor practice:
writing prompts, to worksheets and MORE!
In fact, I am so happy with the way the packet turned out I will give the first two people who comment on this blog a packet for FREE! 🙂 (Please leave me your email address so I can email you a PDF version of the packet free of charge!)
