Sad day. Freebie Week must come to an end….
But don’t cry!!! There will be many more freebies to come.
The freebie of the day is a graphing freebie!! You might be asking yourself, what’s with all the thumbs up and thumbs down pictures?? Well, glad you asked!
One of the ways I introduce graphing is by asking students their opinions during our daily math meeting!! At the start of the school year I take their pictures with their thumbs up and one with their thumbs down.
Then in a pocket chart I ask a question:
Do you like orange juice? Yes or No??
Do you like to read?
Do you like ice cream?
Students then decide if they like it or not! If they like it, they take out their thumbs up picture and put it on the yes side. If they do NOT like it, they take out their thumbs down picture and put it on the no side.
We then talk about the graph. (Which do we like more? How many more people said yes than no? etc.)
Some days I have them fill out their OWN graphs!
You of course do you not have to always ask yes or no questions. If I presented a choice question such as, “which do you like better reading or writing”? I would just have my students put their happy face in the column that they prefer! When they fill out the graph, they would write in the two option under neath the graphing columns.
