Pumpkin Week (and FREEBIES!)
28 Oct, 2012. 4 Comments. A Day In First Grade, First Grade, First Grade Science, Free, Kindergarten Science, October, Science. Posted By: Kristen Smith

Get ready, get set…. this week is PUMPKIN WEEK!!! Yay!! I love this week. I love watching the kids dig into their pumpkins and their facial expressions when they extract all the seeds. This year, I already know, I’m going to have some that EAT. IT. UP. and others who will “ewwwwwww” the whole time.

We will start the week reading a few of my favorite pumpkin books. Check out some of the books we will be reading!

We will start with the  book.
After we read it, we will create a KWL chart about pumpkins.
Then we will write similes about our pumpkins.
Here are my lesson plans for the week:

I just bought this new book for my classroom and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. I love the themes in it, the illustrations and that it talks about counting the pumpkins seeds by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. I am sure my kiddos are going to love it as much as I do!! (I’m also hoping they will be able to transfer the information to our actual pumpkin day!)
I also have a couple more FREEBIES for you today! I don’t know about you, but the less paperwork I have, the better. For that reason, I have made a ONE PAGE recording sheet for PUMPKIN DAY!
I also created a few table displays to help your parent helpers know what to expect and so the children know what to do!
There is one for each activity on the recording page!
I also have a quick math bin for you: Pumpkin Themed Fact Families.
(Yes, there is a recoding page to go with it!)
You can click on the title page above to get taken to the FREEBIES or you can go to this link!
I hope you have a fantastic week!
