Let’s get organized! {FREEBIE!}
22 Jul, 2013. 31 Comments. A Day In First Grade, Back to School, First Grade, Free. Posted By: Kristen Smith
{I hope you sang that to the tune of, “let’s get physical”… because I did…}
Moving on. 😉
The new year is QUICKLY approaching. I have already started getting my room set up. If you follow me on instagram, you’ve gotten a sneak peak at my new writing area. I am in LOVE with how it is coming out!!  My name on instagram is adayinfirstgrade! I’ll post daily pictures of my classroom’s progress. It’s so fun to see everyone working in their classrooms!
I finally am back from a VERY.LONG.VACATION. Thanks so much to Lyndsey for guest blogging for me. I LOVE what she shared! I hope y’all grabbed her amazing freebies and head over to her blog to say hello! She is a dear friend of mine, so please, stop by and say hi to her!

I got to hang out with a a GOOD friend of mine will I was in MA. She actually was my assistant teacher YEARS ago. Way back in the day, I taught her daughter and her son.
Here’s a picture of me with a student (her daughter who will remain nameless) from my first ever Kindergarten class and a student from my class from last year! {I’m getting OLD!!} jk!!!
My vacation was spent everywhere from the Cape to Maine. It was SO much fun and VERY relaxing.
We ate lots of lobster and had a blast!
Unfortunately, my teacher brain never shuts off and I could not wait to come back home to WORK.
{it’s a disease!}
I wanted to create my writing center (Which I will blog about soon, decorate my classroom, and offer y’all a FREEBIE!)
I use a folder and binder system in my class to help me stay organized. Each student gets a writing binder, a math binder, a Thursday folder, and a homework notebook. I label EVERYTHING in my classroom. This ensures organization and that I know where everything belongs! (and to whom it belongs!)
I wanted to create fun labels for these notebooks and binders and came up with this:
I LOVE THEM!!!
{Print these labels on 2″x4″ labels. I bought Avery labels (the pack had 100 labels and 10 sheets) at Walmart for around $3.00!!}
They look like this on my computer:

Please note that I am using many fonts that I have downloaded and paid for. You can download this product for FREE however; it might look wonky on your computer because you do not have the correct fonts. However, have no fear. If you want it to look like mine, simply download these fonts:

I LOVE them and use them all the time!!  Most are free at Dafont.com. Cara Carroll’s are located here:
If you don’t want to download new fonts, just fiddle with the size and font style and you will have some really CUTE labels!!
**Please note that this file will open up in Power Point.**
Click on the link to be taken to the Google Document of this FREE product. Download it to be able to edit and manipulate it!

  15. Love your stuff on TPT! Never knew you had a blog and now I am glad I found you!

  16. These labels are fantastic! Do you happen to have the stock number for the labels you printed them on? Thanks!

  17. I love these labels and want to use them. I downloaded to google drive, but they aren’t editable. Am I missing something?

  18. These labels are adorable!! Do you know what size label they will fit to print on?? Thanks!

  19. I love these labels. I just went to print them and they didn’t print correctly. Do you have any suggestions on how to make them fit? Thank you so much!

    • I’m not sure– they worked on my computer and printer! I would say make sure your print settings aren’t changing the margins and hopefully it will work! I’m sorry you are having trouble! Avery labels + printing is sometimes a tricky thing!!

    • Tina -

      This may be late, but I just found these and I too had trouble printing. I move the sides of the slides in to allow for margins then they printed fine. These are adorable!! I printed extra so I have some to use for new students :)

  20. Mine didn’t print correctly either. :( Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    • Nicole, I’m so sorry you are having issues! Check your printer settings and make sure that the printer is not changing the margins. They worked on my computer… I printed a whole bunch of them! I’m so sorry you’re having issues!

  21. I bought 2×4″ labels to print on and they looked crazy too! Is there something I am missing when printing or do I need to adjust the set up?

    Thanks,

  24. I just found these on Pintrest. They are fabulous! Thank you for the FREEBIE!

  25. I downloaded the free labels with the graphics of the children. I LOVE IT! I was bale to edit it but even with the correct size labels it is not printing on the label the correct way. It is not matching up! What can I do to correct this problem?

    • I think you need to adjust the size in Adobe. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. It worked for me and many others but some find that their computer resizes it. :(
